G2P First General Assembly Meeting Held in Beijing

On May 31, the first general assembly meeting of the International Mega Science Project on Crop Genetic Resources Analysis—From Genome to Phenome (G2P) was held both on-line and off-line. Prof. Wu Kongming, President of CAAS, and Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS attended the meeting.

The meeting reported on the latest progress in the preparation of the G2P, reviewed and approved the Terms of Reference of the G2P Council and Committees, and elected the President and Vice President of the G2P Council, as well as the Chairs of the Committees, thereby the organizational structure of the G2P international mega science project is formally established. Representatives from participating institutions fully recognized the significance of G2P and the progress was made. It is unanimously agreed that G2P is ready for formal initiation, and its implementation with the least delay would be highly appreciated so as to provide timely scientific solutions to global food security and other issues.

The hybrid meeting was attended by Prof. Wan Jianmin, Chief Scientist of G2P, Prof. Wang Ren, Senior Advisor to G2P, as well as representatives from 25 international  and 12 domestic participating institutions, International Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology,  Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Beijing Municipal Human Resources Work Bureau, among other more than 60 attendees.
