On June 25, Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), met with Ivar Horneland Kristensen, President of the Norwegian Bioeconomy Research Institute (NIBIO). Both sides exchanged views on further deepening agricultural science and technology cooperation.

Prof. Sun Tan noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation between CAAS and NIBIO, and the third phase of the China-Norwegian Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Project has recently been officially launched. The two sides have a solid foundation of cooperation in agricultural science and technology, bringing significant progress in key areas such as plant protection, feed, food safety, and sustainable development. He suggested that both parties, building on the existing cooperation, should strengthen collaboration under the framework of the G2P international mage science project, further coordinate resources, expand cooperation channels, and deepen agricultural science and technology cooperation in key areas. Prof. Sun also proposed the mutual exchange and visits of young scientists to share research progress, promote the advancement of agricultural science and technology, and contribute to global food security and the delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr. Kristensen stated that CAAS is their most important Chinese partner, and expressed hope to continuously deepen the cooperation between the two institutes under multi- and bilateral frameworks, further strengthen talent training, and enhance exchange and visits to jointly address global challenges.

Responsible officials from the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, the Institute of Crop Science of CAAS, the Institute of Feed Research of CAAS, and the Institute of Quality Standard and Testing Technology for Agro-Products of CAAS attended the meeting.
