2023 China Agricultural Outlook Conference Held in Beijing

On April 20th, China Agricultural Outlook Conference was held in Beijing. Zhang Xingwang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and Wu Kongming, President of CAAS, attended the Conference and delivered welcome speeches.

Themed "strengthening agricultural monitoring and early warning to ensure the strong supply, to promote agricultural development and to increase farmer’s income",   China Agricultural Outlook Report 2023-2032  was released, in which the production, consumption, trade, and price information for 18 major agricultural products over the next 10 years are projected. The report shows that China will continue to improve its support capability of agricultural supply, build a diversified food supply system, optimize the agricultural trade structure and significantly increase agricultural competitiveness. The Conference also hosted special discussions on hot topics such as agricultural power, food security, agricultural technology innovation, agricultural resources and environment, agricultural monitoring and early warning as well as international agricultural trade. The year of 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the China Agricultural Outlook Conference, and witnesses that the outlook system based on information monitoring and early warning has been basically formed to serve the high-quality development of agriculture.

Chen Xiwen, Director of the 13th National People's Congress Working Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas, and Zhang Hecheng, member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, respectively delivered keynote speeches on accelerating the construction of an agricultural powerhouse and building an agricultural outlook system with Chinese characteristics.

The Conference was broadcasted live with more than 600 representatives from local agricultural and rural departments, agricultural research institutes and agricultural enterprises attending on site. Yang Zhenhai, Secretary of the Party Group of CAAS, presided over the opening ceremony. The Conference is hosted by the Agricultural Information Institute of the CAAS with the support of the Chinese Agricultural Outlook Committee and the Department of Market and Informatization of MARA.
