CAAS Scientist was Elected Vice President of the IOBC-Global
On July 16, 2020, the International Organization of Biological Control (IOBC)-Global announced the new Executive Committee for the 2020-2024, and Dr. Gao Yulin from Institute of Plant Protection (IPP),CAAS was elected Vice President of IOBC-Global.
Dr. Gao Yulin is a professor from the Department of Agricultural Entomology at IPP-CAAS. His research focuses on biological control and integrated pest management of potato and vegetable crops. Dr. Gao has authored more than 100 articles published in international journals (two of them in the Annual Review of Entomology) and book chapters. He serves as the Executive Editor of the well-known international journal Pest Management Science. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards for a number of journals including Journal of Pest Science, Journal of Economic Entomology and Environmental Entomology. Dr. Gao also serves as the Vice President of APRS-IOBC (2012-2020), scientific advisory board member for 2020 ICE Finland, and committee member of International Branch of ESA. Collaborating with other IOBC colleagues, Dr. Gao has been working on the promotion of IOBC in China and the number of IOBC Chinese members has significantly increased in recent years.
IOBC was established in 1956 as a global organization. It promotes environmentally safe methods of pest and disease control. It is a voluntary organization of biological-control workers. Membership in IOBC gives individuals and organizations the opportunity to participate in biological control activities beyond their specific jobs and workplaces, to step outside their bureaucracies and to contribute to the promotion of biological control worldwide.
