CAAS and Offices of International Organizations in China Discussed the Key Points of Future Cooperation
On March 31th, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) organized the annual reporting meeting of the offices of international organizations in China. Representatives from the China offices of 7 research centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and CAB International (CABI) respectively reported on the work progress in 2020 and the work plan in 2021, as well as deeply discussed the One CGIAR reform, the United Nations Food System Summit, etc.
The meeting pointed out that in 2020, China offices overcame the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic and have applied for 24 domestic and overseas projects through various joint platforms, with a total funding of more than 27.52 million yuan. Moreover, they introduced more than 1,100 germplasm resources, co-published 212 papers and organized nearly 20 academic activities. Good results have been achieved in the application and development for international projects, the introduction of germplasm resources, the construction of joint platforms, talent training, academic events and scientific and technological achievement transformation.
The meeting emphasized that each China office should continue to play a role as a bridge. They need to find new resources for promoting cooperation and exchanges between China and international organizations based on the strategic needs of China's agricultural science and technology. It is necessary to enhance the visibility of international organizations, strengthen the design of outcomes and increase the influence.
More than 20 people from the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, China Offices of CGIAR and CABI attended the meeting.
