CAAS Deepens Agricultural S&T Cooperation with New Zealand and Australia
From November 23 to 28, a delegation led by Chen Huaning, Member of the Leading Party Group of CAAS and Director General of the Department of Personnel, visited New Zealand and Australia for academic exchanges. The visit further deepened and expanded CAAS’s cooperation with universities and research institutions in the two countries. The delegation reached common understanding with counterparts on advancing cooperation mechanism building, promoting collaborative innovation in priority areas, strengthening scientist exchanges, and enhancing joint training of postgraduate students, and successfully completed all scheduled activities.
In New Zealand, the delegation visited the Bioeconomy Science Institute (BSI) and held in-depth discussions on cooperation in areas including plant protection and animal nutrition and feed science. CAAS and BSI signed a letter of intent on cooperation. The delegation also visited Massey University, where the two sides exchanged views and reached common understanding on joint PhD training and cooperation mechanism building for scientific research.
In Australia, the delegation visited the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University, holding in-depth discussions on areas including plant protection, agricultural biosynthesis, and livestock and veterinary science, and reached common understanding on joint PhD training and exchanges among young scientists. The Institute of Feed Research (IFR-CAAS) signed a cooperation agreement with La Trobe University. The delegation also conducted a field visit to the Plant Innovation Centre of the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Officials from the Graduate School of CAAS, the Institute of Plant Protection (IPPCAAS), and the Institute of Feed Research (IFR-CAAS) accompanied the delegation.
