GSCAAS and Murdoch University Reaches Agreement on Collaborative PhD Training
Prof. Liu Daqun, President of Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS) met with a senior delegation from Murdoch University, Australia led by its Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. David Morrison, on Tuesday November 7th, 2017.
President Liu first expressed his welcome to Prof. Morrison and his delegation for their visit. He pointed out that the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Murdoch University have their respective strengths and complement in agricultural research and education, as well as many other areas, which provide a solid foundation and broad prospects for collaboration. He suggested GSCAAS and MU to combine their distinctive features and advantages to promptly commence the implementation of the Collaborative Program.
Prof. Morrison expressed his gratitude to President Liu and his colleagues for meeting with MU delegates and paid high tribute to the bilateral strategic collaboration. He gave a brief overview of Murdoch University, its international cooperation strategy, integrated industry-academic-research approach, and international talent-training model. Both sides also discussed and came to a consensus regarding topics of mutual interests – regular bilateral exchange of academics and professional staff, and short-term training for postgraduates.
Both parties agreed to continuously explore new mechanisms and models of cooperation to make new contributions to the cooperation and exchange of Sino-Australia high-level talents training and agriculture research.
At the end of the meeting, President Liu and Prof. Morrison signed the Agreement on Collaborative PhD Program in Agriculture and Life Sciences between Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Murdoch University, Australia.
Murdoch University is a public university based in Perth, Western Australia. It began operations as the state’s second university in 1973. Murdoch enjoys renowned global reputation due to its world-class education and research capacities, as well as its high impact factor in the areas of veterinary science, environmental engineering, and media and communication. Murdoch is also the only university in Australia receiving a five-star rating from graduates for five consecutive years.
