On December 19, Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, met with a delegation led by Akmaljon Qosimov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. The two sides exchanged views on deepening China–Uzbekistan agricultural science and technology cooperation.

Prof. Sun noted that China–Uzbekistan agricultural S&T cooperation has a solid foundation and broad prospects. Under the existing memorandum of understanding, the two sides have carried out productive cooperation in joint research, platform development, and talent training. He expressed the hope that both sides will further deepen joint research in areas such as cotton, rice, agricultural product processing, and water-saving irrigation, while aligning with Uzbekistan’s needs and China’s strengths to expand practical cooperation in combating desertification and saline–alkali agriculture. He also proposed leveraging the China-Central Asia Agricultural Research Center of CAAS to strengthen scientist exchanges and talent development, jointly organize international symposia, and upgrade cooperation in both quality and impact.

Deputy Minister Qosimov said Uzbekistan attaches great importance to its cooperative relationship with CAAS, commended the achievements already made, and expressed willingness to continue promoting all-round exchanges and cooperation.

Officials from the Department of International Cooperation, CAAS, the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA-CAAS), and the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP-CAAS), as well as relevant experts, attended the meeting.
