Inauguration Ceremony of Sino-Indonesia Joint Laboratory for the Prevention and Control of Avian Diseases held in Indonesia
On November 29th, 2017, the Inauguration Ceremony of Sino-Indonesia Joint Laboratory for the Prevention and Control of Avian Diseases was held in Bogor, Indonesia.
Dr. Bu Zhigao, Director of Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Mr. Huang Wenlie, Director of PT Biotis Orima Agrisindo, signed the MOU witnessed by Prof. Tang Huajun, President of CAAS, Dr Gong Xifeng, Director General of Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, Mr. Afnan Malay, Senior consultant of Indonesia Ministry of Agricultre, and Mr. Fu Chaoyang, CEO of Harbin Weike Biotechnology Development Company and all the other guests from China and Indonesia. After the signing ceremony, Prof. Tang, together with Mr. Afnan Malay and Dr. Bu unveiled the plaque for the joint laboratory.
Prof. Tang expressed the support for the scientific cooperation in the joint laboratory and believed that it will play an import role in the“Belt and Road” Initiative, and will gradually benefit other countries in Southeast Asia. On behalf of the Indonesia Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Afnan Malay expressed that the Indonesia MoA will support the scientific research for the joint laboratory. And through the scientific achievement of which, the avian disease surveillance and control capacity in Indonesia would improve.
Sino-Indonesia Joint Laboratory for the Prevention and Control of Avian Diseases, established by Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of CAAS and PT Biotis Orima Agrisindo, will focus on the development of vaccine and diagnostic reagent against the avian infectious diseases in Indonesia with the support from the platform construction project of the Belt and Road Initiative of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), CAAS, MoA of Indonesia, and Avian Production Associations of Indonesia. The platform will be a new model of the Academic-Industry collaboration innovation and will promote the international agriculture scientific & technology achievements transformation. It is believed that the new joint laboratory will enhance the relationship on animal infectious diseases between China and Indonesia, and contribute to the animal health in Asia-Pacific area.
