Chen Mengshan meets Chilean Minister of Agriculture
On September 5th, Chen Mengshan, Secretary of the Leading Party Group of CAAS met with Carlos Furche, Chilean Minister of Agriculture at CAAS campus in Beijing. The two sides exchanges views on strengthening China-Chile agricultural science and technology cooperation.
Chen briefed the guest about the academy’s new vision towards a world-class research institution and its latest research developments. “CAAS and its Chilean partners have already initiated sound cooperation, particularly in the fields of gerplasm exchange, animal sciences and fruit research”, said Chen. In terms of future bilateral S&T cooperation, Chen proposed scientists from both sides to work closely in apple and grape breeding, food processing, and bio-technology, etc.

Furche agreed with Chen’s proposal and appreciated CAAS success in agriculture science and technology innovation. He said, “Chilean government would continue to support the bilateral cooperation in agricultural sector and be glad to see more involvement from the CAAS”.
