The Central Asia Cotton Production Management Training Workshop Commences at the Institute of Western Agriculture
On the afternoon of July 17, the opening ceremony of the Central Asia Cotton Production Management Training Workshop took place at the report hall of the Institute of Western Agriculture building in Xinjiang. The event was attended by Yang Shengyan, Director of the Coordination Office of the Academy for International Business Officials, Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (AIBO of MOFCOM); Zhang Huijie, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Group of Agricultural Information Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (AII of CAAS); Gao Lei, Director General of the Institute of Western Agriculture; Wang Xiang, Secretary of Leading Party Group of the Foreign Affairs Office of Changji Autonomous Prefecture; and Liu Enliang, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Changji National Agricultural High-Tech Zone. The opening ceremony was hosted by He Wenqing, Deputy Director General of the Institute of Western Agriculture.
The training workshop was organized by the MOFCOM and jointly hosted by the AIBO, Institute of Western Agriculture, AII of CAAS, Center for International Agricultural Research (CIAR of CAAS), the Institute of Cotton Research, and the Changji National Agricultural High-Tech Zone.
Yang Shengyan emphasized that the training workshop not only reflects the Chinese government’s commitment to fostering friendly exchanges and cooperation with other countries but also demonstrates China's proactive stance in promoting agricultural cooperation. He encouraged participants to actively engage, learn from each other, and create more opportunities for practical cooperation. The workshop, focusing on "Cotton Production Management in Central Asia," invited renowned experts from China’s cotton industry to provide lectures. Through professional teaching, discussions, and field visits, the workshop aims to introduce participants to the history and current status of the cotton industry, as well as advanced production techniques and technological achievements. The objective is to enhance cotton production management and technology in Central Asia. The 14-day training workshop, with 36 participants from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, will include on-site visits to relevant enterprises in Changji Prefecture, Shihezi, and other areas of Xinjiang.
