Mongolia National Reference Laboratory for Food Safety and Institute of Quality Standards and Testing Technology for Agro-products Launched Strategic Collaboration
From September 1 to 12, 2025, an 8-member delegation led by Mrs. Oyunbileg Nandin-Erdene, Director of the Mongolian National Food Safety Reference Laboratory, Mongolia Bureau of Standardization and Metrology, visited the Institute of Quality Standards and Testing Technology for Agro-products, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Deputy Director-General Jin Fen attended the exchange and delivered a speech. The two parties held in-depth discussions on enhancing cooperation in the field of food and agricultural product quality and safety, followed by a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation framework agreement.
This exchange initiative will focus on advancing international collaboration in areas such as Sino-Mongolian food safety testing capacity building, academic exchanges and training, joint project applications, and postgraduate talent cultivation. The multi-faceted cooperation aims to comprehensively enhance Mongolia's capabilities in food safety risk regulation.
Through a two-week exchange and training, the Mongolian delegation gained a systematic understanding of China's food safety regulatory framework, as well as the practices in risk monitoring and assessment of quality and safety for agricultural products. The program emphasized hands-on learning and operation in testing technologies for pesticide residues and heavy metal contamination.
Experts from the Institute provided detailed explanations on various aspects of testing, including the principles of instruments and methods, optimization and development, proficiency testing, sample handling and flow management, result interpretation, and data reporting. The training combined theoretical learning with practical exercises, delivering targeted and systematic technical instruction to enhance the trainees' testing capabilities.
Through this exchange and training program, the team from the Mongolian National Reference Laboratory for Food Safety has not only systematically mastered core testing technologies for pesticide residues and heavy metal contamination but also marked the beginning of a new long-term cooperation between the two parties in the field of food safety, characterized by technical exchanges, training, and capacity building.
This initiative will promote China's experience in food safety testing technology and risk management to Belt and Road Initiative countries, effectively enhance the testing capabilities of Mongolian food safety institutions, and make a contribution to ensuring the quality and safety of food and agricultural products between China and Mongolia.
