Vice Prime Minister of Malaysia Visited CAAS
On November 17th, Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Vice Prime Minister of Malaysia, and his delegation visited CAAS, where they were warmly received by Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS.
Prof. Sun Tan highlighted the close collaboration between CAAS and Malaysia. In September of this year, CAAS, in collaboration with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) and the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, organized the first China-Malaysia Technical Working Group Meeting on Agricultural Science & Technology and the first TWG Meeting on Crops, respectively, which outlined future key areas and cooperation directions. Prof. Sun suggested that both parties leverage existing intergovernmental cooperation and exchange mechanisms, and further deepen collaboration in areas such as crop breeding, facility agriculture and capacity building, so as to provide more robust support to the agricultural development of both countries.
Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof appreciated the significant progress made by CAAS in areas such as the protection and utilization of crop genetic resources, and the research and development of smart plant factories. He highly praised CAAS's noteworthy technological achievements and expressed willingness to further advance bilateral agricultural cooperation to new heights.
The VPM and his delegation visited the National Crop Gene Bank and the National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Park of CAAS.
H.E. Dato' Mohamad Bin Alamin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, H.E. Norman Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, and other senior government officials from Malaysia composed the delegation. Responsible senior officials from Department of International Cooperation and Institute of Crop Sciences of CAAS facilitated the visit.
