CAAS and University of Sydney launched joint laboratory for sustainable agro-ecosystems
On March 6, 2013, CAAS and the University of Sydney singed the new agreement on the establishment of Sino-Australian Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Agro-ecosystems in the presence of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Chinese Ambassador to Australia Chen Yuming, CAAS Vice President Wu Kongming and Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor of University of Sydney.
Julia Gillard said “the global economic center of gravity moving toward the East has brought new opportunities to Asia-Pacific region. The cooperation in agricultural research and innovation between Australia and China will be the key to the development of the next few decades”.
“The establishment of the joint laboratory is a crucial move in CAAS’s global strategy and will definitely promote the cooperation in sustainable agro-ecosystems between China and Australia,” said Wu Kongming.
The Sino-Australia Joint Laboratory for Sustainable Agro-Ecosystems will be established and hosted in the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA–CAAS) with a mirror facility in the Centre for Carbon, Water and Food of the University of Sydney.
