Secretary General Leif Forsell of Royal Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Visits CAAS

On August 10th, 2018, Mr. Leif Forsell, Secretary General of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, visited the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). Dr. Wan Jianmin, Vice President of CAAS met with the delegation. Both parties had in-depth exchanges on further enhancing the level and effectiveness of cooperation and promoting the agricultural development of China and Norway to a new level.


Dr. Wan Jianmin delivered warm welcome and briefed the delegation on CAAS He introduced that since the establishment in 1957, CAAS has gradually built strong ability in scientific research and technology promotion and provided solid support for the national food security and the national economic development. Strengthening Sino-Norwegian cooperation and exchanges in agricultural science and technology is conductive to the role of technological innovation and technology promotion in promoting national agricultural development. He said that CAAS has worked closely with the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) in various fields since 2004, including the cooperation in the preparation of the “Sino-Norwegian North Pole Cooperation Center” and the “Joint Research Laboratory on Arctic Pests and Diseases”, etc. In the future, both parties can further deepen the cooperation in scientific research projects, the exchange of scientists and personnel training. CAAS is willing to work with Norway to fully explore the potential for in-depth cooperation in agriculture so as to add to the meaning and impetus of the relationship between both countries.
 

Mr. Leif Forsell extended sincere gratitude to Dr. Wan Jianmin for his introduction. He said, although it was his first visit to the academy, CAAS has been a partner with the NIBIO for many years. During this visit, he saw the development of China and felt the enthusiasm of China. Norway hopes to further explore new areas of cooperation based on the 14-year cooperation between China and Norway. Both parties can cooperate in various fields such as animal health, plant health and human health, and bring new opportunities to both parties through scientific and technological cooperation and personnel exchanges.

Heads of the Department of International Cooperation, Institute of Animal Sciences and Institute of Quality Standards and Testing Technology for Agro-Products of CAAS attended the meeting.
